A strong background in the physical and biological sciences will give you an advantage when you enter into doctoral level professional training programs in the health sciences.
Completion of a biology and/or chemistry major along with the cognate requirements provides such a background and includes the required courses for entering schools of medicine (as well as dentistry, optometry, osteopathic medicine, podiatry, and chiropractic).
Such schools require a specific entrance exam; students should work closely with their advisers to ensure they are prepared for the exam.
At Trinity, you will develop a program of study based on the type of program and the particular school you want to attend.
A Christian frame of reference is the key element of Trinity’s pre-med program. Professionals in health care deal daily with problems having religious, moral, and ethical dimensions, including patient concerns about pain, illness, death, abortion, and euthanasia. At Trinity, small classes serve as simulation laboratories where students practice the process of ethical decision making from a Christian perspective.

These courses will provide a strong basis for encountering and understanding the proper role of science in society as well as the impact of technology in today’s world.
Trinity pre-med students have unique advantages because of the College’s strength in the sciences, highly-qualified and dedicated professors, connections to metropolitan Chicago resources, and commitment to placing graduates successfully into medical school. Because medical professionals deal with people in need, the College places strong emphasis on helping and interacting with others. Students are urged to participate in activities such as campus ministries, tutoring opportunities, service/learning programs, and outreach ministries.
Trinity alumni often report that they are well-prepared for medical school because of their liberal arts background in general education, close contact with professors, and solid foundation in a Christian worldview. Trinity graduates become doctors, dentists, optometrists, veterinary doctors, and researchers, and they experience a high rate of acceptance into many of the nation’s top medical schools.
