Track and
Field at Lewis University (2/18/-19/05)
Over the weekend
the track and field teams competed in the Chicagoland Championships at
Lewis University. The women's events were on Friday night and the men competed
on Saturday. The Trolls put together some good individual performances,
setting more school records.
The women's team
earned 4 points for the meet as the distance medley relay team of Amy
Hoving, Katie Merrow, Ashley Afman, and Diana Brickman finished in
5th place with a school record time of 13:27.00. In the sprints Kari
McCarthy set a school record in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:07.46.
Sandra
Hoekstra was the team's top finisher in the 800 meter run with a record
time of 2:32.51. Amy Hoving set the distance running record, 11:29.57,
for the 3000 meter. Katie Merrow had another fine performance for
the event as she jumped 15'0'' in the long jump for a school record.
The men's team
was led by Rich Visser who finished 15th in the 3000 meter run with
a school record time of 9:19.47. Thomas Donovan broke his own shot
put record of last meet with a throw of 40'2.25" in this meet.
The teams will
compete next on February 26 at Huntington College (IN).
