Track and Field Performs Well at Goshen  (3/24/05)
The track and field teams had a good day at the Goshen College Invitational. In a five-team meet the Trolls put forth some good individual performances and set seven school records. Overall the athletes placed 17 times in the meet. 

The women earned 33 points and placed in 4th overall. The foursome of Amy Hoving, Diana Brickman, Ashley Afman, and Sandra Hoekstra took home a first place in the 4 x 800 meter relay with a school record time of 10"05.11. Hoving also placed first in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:28.91. Kaitlin Merrow ran 1:04.15 in the 400 meter to set a school record and finish in 3rd place. Also setting individual school records were Brickman in the javelin throw (73'09") and Kathy Boeringa in the shot put (32'11.5"). The relay team of Carrie Flowers, Kari McCarthy, Merrow, and Hoving took second in the 4 x 400 meter relay with a school record time of 4:22.92. 

The men's team finished in 5th place with 17 points. Rich Visser took top honors in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:14.25. Jesse Marlink set the school record in the 400 meter with a time of 54.74. Thomas Donovan was also a record breaker with a throw of 41'00.5" in the shot put. 

The team's next meet is on April 2 at North Park University at 10:00 am.
