Track and Field Faces Tough Competition at North Central  (4/9/05)
The Trolls competed against some tough competition in the multi-team Chicagoland Championships held at North Central College (IL). In this largest outdoor meet of their season the teams had only one place finisher, but still broke several school records and had some athletes achieve NCCAA qualifying standards. Matt Pfadnehauer was the only place finisher as he finished in 4th place in the javelin with a school record throw of 157'03".

The women's team was led by Amy Hoving who qualified for the NCCAA in two events, the 800 meter run at 2:26.2 (school record) and the 1500 meter run at 5:01.09.. Both of those performances qualify her for the NCCAA national meet. Esther Peters hit the qualifying standard in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:15.2 and Jomyla McKinney set the school record and qualified in the shot put with a toss of 37'05.75".

Beside Pfadenhauer, the other NCCAA qualifier was Thomas Donovan who threw 42'03.5" in the shot put for a school record. Rich Visser was strong in the 5000 meter setting a school record at 16:31.25. In the sprints Jesse Marlink set the school mark in the 400 meter with a time of 54.49.

The teams will compete next at Elmhurst College on Saturday, April 16, in a meet starting at 9:30 am.
