Soccer and
Baseball Join Efforts Signing Tameling (4/25/05)
Both the men's
soccer team and baseball teams will benefit next season as Rich Tameling,
son of Ed and Sherry Tameling, signed to play at Trinity. Tameling enjoyed
success in both sports at Timothy Christian High School and plans on doing
the same as a Troll.
"We are very
excited to have Rich in our programs," agree Coach DeCou and Coach Schans.
"He is a quality athlete and a quality young man."
In soccer Tameling
was they captain of his high school team as well as all-conference and
honorable mention all-sectional. He scored eight goals and handed out thirteen
assists in his senior year. He will continue the Trinity soccer tradition
started by his older brother Kevin, a four-year Troll soccer player.
"Rich will be
able to play a number of positions due to his speed, touch, and vision,"
says DeCou. "He has the qualities that we need to help us in our quest
for championships."
Tameling also
has the talent to get the job done on the baseball field. He has been successful
in the field as Timothy Christian's short stop and at the plate with a
good batting average. Although it is still early in the baseball season,
his stats may earn him an all-conference selection this year.
Schans comments,
"Rich is a great kid and a good athlete. He will be able to deepen our
play in the infield as well as help us out on the offensive attack with
the bat."
