Track and Field Women Get First Team Win  (4/29/05)
The women's portion of the track and field team made history with the first team win ever for the program. In an invitational at Concordia University (IL) the women scored 121 points for the first place spot, scoring 11 more points than the second place team. The men's team finished with 26 points for a 6th place finish. This was the last regular season meet of the year. 

Individually the women's team took home three 1st place awards. Esther Peters won the 400 meter hurdle event with a school record time of 1:10.89. Jomyla McKinnie walked away with first place performances in the shot put (39'03.75") and discus (116'11"); both school records. Also setting a school record was Kathy Boeringa in the javelin with a throw of 76'07". Kaitlin Merrow placed in three individual events (100m, 200m, 400m) and one relay (4 x 100). In the distance events Amy Hoving took 2nd in the 1500 meter and Ashley Afman took second in the 5000 meter. 

The men's team had a number of place finishers. Scott Nuismer broke the school record in the 400 meter with a time of 53.37. Ryan Bruxvoort took second in the 400 meter hurdles (1:04.00) and Rich Visser took 4th in the 1500 Meter (4:25.12). 

On May 6-7 some members of the team will compete in the NCCAA National Championships in Marion, IN.
