Softball Loses Two To Bethel (3/15/06)
In non-conference home softball action the Trolls lost both games of a double-header to Bethel College (IN). In the first game the team did not get on the board until the last inning and by that time they were well behind. The final score was 9-2. The Trolls did not start out well in the second game, fought to catch up, but came up short with a 10-3 loss. The team is now 2-6 for the season.

Four errors in the third inning of game one cost the Trolls four runs. Bethel added two more in the fifth and then on a three-run homer in the seventh made it 9-0. In their final at bat the Trolls got two runners on base and scored both of those players on a hit by Michelle Cooke. They left two more runners stranded before the inning was over.

Bethel started out the second game with a bang as they produced a double followed by two home runs to put four runs on the board in the first inning. The Trolls got two of those back in the fourth inning when Sarah Lerner doubled and was brought across the plate by a Stephanie Koedyker home run.  Bethel picked up two more runs in the fifth inning and behind four hits got four more in the sixth to make it 10-2. The Trolls picked up a final run in the bottom of the sixth before the game was called because of darkness.

For the two games the Trolls had a total of 11 hits with Sarah Lerner earning four of those. Stephanie Koedyker had three RBIs and Michelle Cooke had two.

The team will play next on Saturday, March 18, at home against Wheaton College at 11:00 am.
