Softball Splits with Robert Morris  (4/10/06)
The Trolls continued conference play with a doubleheader against Robert Morris College (IL). The first game got away from the team with a 7-2 loss. However they came back in the second game for the 3-2 victory. The Trolls are now 10-17 overall and 3-3 in the conference.

A couple of timely errors in the first few innings of game one gave Robert Morris the opportunity it needed to take the lead. The Trolls eventually settled into the game, but had put themselves into a hole. The only runs they earned were off the bat of Laura Arendsen who had two solo homers.

In the second game the Trolls took the early lead as they got runners on and around the bases for two runs in the first inning. A couple of Robert Morris errors in the second inning allowed one more run to score to make it 3-0. In the fifth inning Robert Morris scored one run. The game became tighter in the sixth inning when the Eagles scored one more and had bases loaded with only one out. Michelle Wories did a great job on the mound, forcing the next two batters into infield plays that resulted in outs. Robert Morris threatened with a runner on third in the seventh inning, but the Trolls held her to take the 3-2 win.

For the two games the team only had eight hits, and Laura Arendsen had three of those. Michelle Wories got the win the second game, allowing six hits and only two runs.

The Trolls will play next at Judson College (IL) on Wednesday, April 12, at 5:00 pm.
