Falls To Trinity International (4/26/06)
In their final
home contests of the season the Trolls took on Trinity International University
(IL). The team lost the battle at the plate, losing the first game 8-4
and the second game 9-2. The losses end the team's hopes for advancing
to the conference tournament as they finish in seventh place with a 7-11
record.

Lerner gave the Trolls a 1-0 start in the first inning of game one.
Trinity International tied it up in the third, only to have the Trolls
go ahead 2-1 in the fourth. The team lost the lead in the fifth inning
when TIU connected on four hits for four runs. They tightened it in their
at bat by scoring two runs to make it 5-4. However a three run homer in
the sixth inning by TIU changed the game and made the final 8-4.
In the second
game Trinity International was hot at the plate, connecting on 13 hits
including four home runs. The Trolls only had six hits for the game. After
three innings they were trailing 4-2. TIU's Tina Sparks then hit a two-run
homer in the fourth and a three-run homer in the sixth to make it 9-2.
The Trolls did not recover and lost the game.
Overall, the
Trolls had 15 hits for the day. Sarah Lerner was three for five
and Laura Arendsen was four for seven. Michelle Cooke also
grabbed two hits.
The Trolls will
wrap up their season on Saturday, April 29, with a doubleheader at Concordia
University (IL) at 1:00 pm.
