Ends Season with Wins (4/29/06)
The Trolls wrapped
up their 2006 season with two non-conference victories at Concordia University
(IL). The team took the first game, 11-1, after five innings of play and
then made it a perfect day with a 3-1 win in the second game. They finished
their season with an 18-31 overall and 7-11 (seventh place) conference
record.
After a 1-1 start
of the first game the Trolls exploded in the fourth inning. The produced
eight hits and 10 runs in that inning to take the commanding lead. Allison
Vanderwerrf had a double for two of the runs and Gail Landini
hit two doubles for four RBIs. The game ended after the fifth inning on
the mercy rule.
The Trolls took
a 1-0 lead in game two in the second inning. A home run by Michelle
Wories in the fifth inning gave the Trolls a 3-0 lead. Concordia put
together two doubles in the bottom of the inning to get on the board. That
3-1 score held throughout the rest of the game.
The team had
19 hits for the game with Sarah Lerner, Stephanie Koedyker,
and Gail Landini each grabbing three. Landini also had five
RBIs. Michelle Wories pitched for the win in the first game and
Vicki Fennema was on the mound in game two.
