Muzuma Twins
to Compete for Trinity Christian (5/3/06)
Joseph and Joshua
Muzuma, seniors at Argo Community High School in Summit, Illinois, have
signed letters of intent to attend Trinity and compete for both the cross
country and track and field teams.
The twin brothers
were born in Tanzania, but came to the United States in 2000. For the past
four years they have been vital members of the Argo cross country and track
and field teams. Last fall, the duo led Argo to a third-place finish in
the regional cross country meet, which earned the team a spot in the sectional
championships. Joshua placed fourth individually at the regional level,
posting a time of 16:15.
On
the track, the Muzumas are both very versatile, running anything from 400
meters to the 3,200 meters. Joshua has personal best times of 51.8 in the
400 meter, 1:58.2 in the 800 meter, and 4:30.4 in the 1,600 meter. Joseph
is not far behind, with top marks of 2:02 in the 800 and 4:49 in the 1,600.
The two are also part of the Argo school-record holding 4 x 800 meter relay
team.
"I believe Joseph
and Joshua will make a major impact at Trinity Christian College before
their careers are over, not just on the track, but in our overall community,"
said Jeff Raymond, head track and field coach. "You only have to be around
them for a short time to realize that Trinity in getting a pair of special
young men. The fact that they have a great deal of athletic talent is just
an added bonus."
In addition to
their athletic accomplishments, the Muzumas have been very involved in
student activities at Argo. Joseph is currently serving as the Student
Council president, while Joshua is the senior class president.
Joseph and Joshua
are sons of Joyce Muzuma of Justice, Illinois.
