Hankes Joins
Runners at Trinity (2/6/07)
The cross country
and track teams will benefit next season with the recent signing of Scott
Hankes, a senior at H. L. Richards High School in Oak Lawn, Illinois.
Hankes was a valuable asset to the Bulldogs' programs and will continue
that success at Trinity.
Hankes earned
all-region and team MVP cross country honors this past season. His personal
best times of include 16:38 in the three mile and 17:02 in the 5,000 meter.
"As Scott's
cross country coach, I am extremely proud of him for continuing his career
at Trinity, " said Wendy Stambaugh, cross country coach at Richards. "I
know that Trinity will only strengthen his talent as a distance runner.
Scott is an exceptional athlete and will be a powerful asset to Trinity's
cross country and track programs."
Hankes will join
former teammate Joseph Lerner, who graduated from Richards in 2006 and
is in his freshman year of competition on the cross country and track teams
at Trinity.
In addition to
his cross country success Hankes has also contributed in track and field.
He has participated in a number of events from the 400 meter to the 3,200
meter. He will join the field of middle distance to distance runners on
the Trolls' track team next spring.
"I am very happy
that Scott has decided to attend Trinity next fall," said Trinity's cross
country coach Bob Brickman. "He is a great fit for our team and for Trinity
as a whole. Scott will immediately be a key contributor to both our cross
country and track teams. He brings leadership and a desire to improve that
is sure to influence his teammates in a positive way."
Hankes is the
son of Gary and Carla Hankes of Chicago Ridge, Illinois.
