Track and Field Women Post Stellar Performance  (2/16/07)
The Trinity women's track and field team had its best finish ever at the Chicagoland Championships hosted by Lewis University. The Trolls placed 7th out of 17 teams by scoring 20.5 points. Prior to this meet, no Trinity athlete had place in an individual event at the Chicagoland Indoor Championships. Four individuals and two relays placed this year.

Leading the way for the team was senior Rita DeJong, who helped establish four new school records. She placed 6th in the 400 meter with a time of 1:02.42 and 14th in the 200 meter in 28.32. DeJong also helped the 4 x 200 meter relay team set a school record and place 4th in 1:53.00. Her final record came as part of the 4 x 400 meter relay, as she anchored the team to a 5th place finish in 4:31.65.

Freshman Emily Buter also had a good meet, placing in all four events she entered. She tied for 3rd in the high jump with a mark of 4-11 and then ran 1:03.20 to place 8th in the 400 meter. Buter also ran legs on the 4 x 200 and the 4 x 400 meter relays.

Megan VanHofwegen finished 7th in the 400 meter with a time of 1:02.44 and was on the 4 x 200 meter relay team.

Katie VanderArk ran on both relays, while Jennifer TenKate ran a leg of the 4 x 400 meter relay.

The Trolls will compete at the NCCAA Indoor Championships at Taylor University next weekend.
