Track and
Field Competes at Goshen (03/31/07)
On Saturday,
March 31, the track and field teams took part in a five-team meet at Goshen
College (IN). The women's team scored 56 points for a third place finish
while the men's squad scored 26 points for fourth place.
Freshman Megan
Van Hofwegen led the way in the sprints with a second place finish
in the 100 meter with a school record time of 13.24 and a third place result
in the 200 meter at 28.24. Senior Rita DeJong grabbed first place
in the 400 meter at 1:02.16 and placed fourth in the 200 meter (28.54).
Freshman Ashley
Biesboer took second in the discus throw at 112-02, a toss that reaches
the NCCAA national meet qualifying standards.
The men's 4 x
800 meter relay team of Mike Burr, Joseph Muzuma, Andy Jellema,
and Joshua Muzuma ran 8:16.54 (2nd place), breaking the school record
set earlier in the week.
The Trolls will
compete again on Saturday, April 7, at the Chicagoland Championships at
North Central College.
