Softball Loses Two at Saint Xavier  (4/17/07)
The Trolls struggled to find their rhythm in a double-header at Saint Xavier University. They lost the first game 0-8 after six innings and dropped the second game 3-11 after five innings. The team is now 8-19 overall and 4-6 in the conference.

In the first game the Trolls only had two hits for the game and those were back-to-back in the second inning. Those hits put runners in scoring position, but did not produce any runs. Saint Xavier scored two in the first and two in the second to take the quick 4-0 lead.

The Cougars added one more run in the fifth inning. They loaded bases in the sixth inning and scored two runs on a single to right field. Then on a passed ball one more runner crossed the plate to make the score 8-0 and end the game on the mercy rule.

The bright spot in the second game came in the third inning when Sarah Lerner cranked a three-run homer to give the Trolls a 3-2 lead. A couple of costly errors in the fourth inning changed the tide of the game as Saint Xavier went ahead 7-3.

In the bottom of the fifth inning the Cougars loaded the bases with just one out. A grand slam scored four runs to once again put the game to rest on the mercy rule.

The Trolls will continue conference action on Wednesday, April 18, when they host Olivet Nazarene in a double-header starting at 3:30 pm
