Softball
Stopped By St. Francis (4/23/07)
The Trolls suffered
two more conference losses as they were defeated by the University of St.
Francis. The first game ended 1-9 after six innings and the second game
was a 2-8 final. Trinity is now 9-24 for the season and 5-11 in the conference.
In the first
game of the double-header the Trolls managed 10 hits, but could only score
one run. That run came in the second inning behind hits by Kelsey Larson
and Amber Heaney and a RBI by Allison Vanderwerff.
St. Francis consistently
scored, adding one run in each of the first four innings. They doubled
their total in the fifth inning with four more runs to make it 8-1. Then
with two outs in the bottom of the 6th they scored one more time to end
the game on the mercy rule.
In the second
game the Trolls once again got on the board in the 2nd inning. This time
a triple by Laura Arendsen got things started. However they went
dry in the next three innings. By the end of the fifth they were down 1-5.
A solo home run
by Jennifer Irvine in the 6th gave the Trolls one more run. St.
Francis added three more runs in the bottom of the inning and had the bases
loaded before the inning retired. In their last effort at bat Trinity was
three up and three down and the game ended at 2-8.
The team will
play at Trinity International University on Tuesday, April 24, at 3:00
pm.
