Denied at Trinity International (4/24/07)
In their final
regular season conference games the Trolls were close, but just short of
defeating Trinity International University (IL). Both games were one-run
defeats, losing 3-4 in game one and 4-5 in the second game. The Trolls
(9-26) finished their CCAC schedule with a 5-13 record.
In game one of
the double header the Trolls took a 3-1 lead after the 4th inning. Trinity
International opened the 6th inning with a single and then a home run to
tie the game.
The Trolls went
three up and three down in the 7th. With two outs in the bottom of the
inning TIU got a runner on base and then advanced her around the bases
to score for the win.
In the second
game the Trolls scored two runs in the 3rd inning, but trailed 2-5 after
the 4th. They were given new hope when Megan Schultz started off
the 6th inning with a double. Sarah Lerner immediately followed
by a two-run homer to bring the team to within one run. They got two more
runners on base that inning, but did not score them.
They held TIU
in the bottom of the 6th, but then failed to score in the 7th to keep the
game alive.
For the day the
Trolls had a total of nine hits. Laura Arendsen, Sarah Lerner,
and Megan Schultz each had two. Lerner and Michelle Rusticus
each tallied two RBIs.
The team will
play at Wheaton College on Saturday, April 28, in a double-header at 11:00
am.
