Sue Gasperec
Bids Farewell (5/15/07)
After 14 years
with the athletics department Sue Gasperec has announced her plans to leave
Trinity. During her tenure she has served the College as coach, administrator,
instructor, advisor, and mentor. She has been instrumental in the athletics
department development and has impacted the lives of many students.
"Sue
Gasperec has filled a lot of roles during her tenure at Trinity and will
certainly be missed," said athletics director Jeff Raymond. "From coaching
to teaching to administration, she has taken on any responsibility that
was asked of her and along the way has made a positive impact on our campus.
We wish her the best in her new endeavors."
For most of her
time at Trinity, Gasperec was the head coach for both the volleyball and
the softball programs. She took over the softball team in 1996 and has
been with the program since then as the head coach for 10 seasons and as
an assistant for two years. Under her direction the team advanced to the
conference tournament six times and recorded a season best record of 18-31
in 2006. Overall she has coached over 400 games at Trinity with a career
coaching record of 119-296-1.
Gasperec was
also the head coach of the volleyball team for 13 seasons from 1993-2005.
She coached over 500 matches with a career match record of 220-305. Her
teams advanced to the NAIA region tournament three times and participated
in the NCCAA national tournament four times.
Under her guidance,
her teams produced numerous all-American, all-conference, and all-region
honors. Her players have also received individual and team scholar-athlete
honors.
In addition to
coaching Gasperec served as the Athletics Director from 2001-2003, chaired
the physical education department, and taught a variety of classes. She
also organized and supervised a highly success summer high school volleyball
league.
Gasperec plans
to move to Texas to be closer to her family and see where the Lord leads
her from there.
