Emily Buter
(Grand Rapids, MI) '10 did what no other Trinity track athlete has done.
She qualified and competed in the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Emily earned the trip to the national meet held at Fresno Pacific University
(Fresno, CA) on May 24-26 when reach the qualifying time of 1:04.86 in
the 400 meter hurdles at the
NCCAA nationals on May 4-5.
Coming into the
NAIA national meet Emily had the 21st fastest time of the 36 qualifiers.
She ran in the outside lane of the 3rd heat of the preliminaries and finished
with a time of 1:09.72, putting her in 33rd place and eliminating her from
moving on to the semifinals.
Emily holds the
school record in the 400 meter hurdles. She is also a member of the relay
teams that set school records in the 4 x 400 meter relay (4:11.89) and
the 4 x 100 meter relay (51.54).
