Softball
Team Gains New Talent (7/27/07)
New appointed
softball coach Kristin Peeples recently secured commitments from four student-athletes.
Veronica Alvarado, Lauren Molina, Mallory Stemme, and Brandy Ward each
signed a letter of intent to play for the Trolls in the 2007-08 season.
“I am thankful
that all four recruits have decided to attend Trinity, “said Peeples. “Each
one of these ladies will contribute to our program in a unique and dynamic
way. With these recruits, as well as the returning players, we will begin
our journey to become top contenders.”
Veronnica
Alvarado played third base and caught for the Knights at Ontario Christian
High School in Ontario, California. Her team finished 19-6 this past season
and individually Veronica had a .361 batting average with 35 hits, including
11 homeruns. She also scored 22 runs and had 35 RBIs.
Veronnica is
the daughter of Julian and Denise Alvarado of Ontario, California.
Lauren
Molina played at Foothill High School of Tustin, California. As a pitcher
and utility player, she helped her team to an undefeated (10-0) league
record and an overall 25-4 record. This past season she spent 34.2 innings
on the mound with a 1.615 ERA and a 4-1 record. At the plate she hit .360
with 31 hits and 32 RBIs.
Lauren is the
daughter of Michael and Catherine Molina of Mission Viejo, California.
Also from California,
Mallory
Stemme was left-side infielder at Hillcrest Christian High School in
Granada Hills, California. This shortstop/third baseman hit .517 in her
19 games of her senior year. She scored 28 runs and had 20 RBIs. Mallory
also played for the California Flames club team.
Mallory is the
daughter of Matt and Nancy Stemme of Castaic, California.
Brandy
Ward is a transfer student who will join the Trolls’ pitching staff.
Brandy graduated from Alan B. Shepard High School (Crestwood, Illinois)
in 2002. In the 2003 and 2004 she played at Aurora University (Ill.), pitching
a total of 66 innings for the Spartans.
Brandy is the
daughter of Wane and Margarete Ward of Crestwood, Illinois.
