Volleyball Faces Tough Competition  (10/13/07)
Based on the competition and the records of the teams in the tournament at Mount Vernon Nazarene University (OH), the Trolls performed as expected. They lost three matches to teams that have only lost six matches combined for the season and picked up one win. With the weekend results the team is now 11-16 overall for the year.
 
On the first day of competition the Trolls faced two teams ranked in the top 25 of the NAIA ratings. The opening match was against No. 23 Mount Vernon Nazarene (21-1). The Trolls lost in three games, 11-30, 15-30, 19-30. They followed that match with a three game loss to No. 17 Campbellsville University (KY) (19-1). Those game scores were 21-30, 20-30, 26-30.
 
The team started their second day of competition against Taylor University (IN) (23-4). The Trolls grabbed the first game, 30-28, but then fell in the next three games, 21-30, 13-30, 21-30.
 
They were not shut out for the entire weekend as they got a victory in their final match against West Virginia Tech. The Trolls took the match in three games, 30-16, 30-23, 30-21.
 
Megan Winters was named to the All-Tournament Team. She ended the weekend with 37 kills, eight ace serves, and 49 digs. Michelle Schurman led the team in kills with 41 while also grabbing 31 digs. Karli Novotny topped the dig column with 50 while Amber Slenk had 25.
 
The team will play at Calumet College of St. Joseph (IN) on Tuesday, October 16 at 7:00 pm.
