Women’s Soccer Loses in CCAC Semifinal Game  (10/24/07)

Despite an aggressive offensive effort, the Trolls came up short in a conference tournament semifinal game. The No. 2 Trolls lost 2-1 to No. 6 Robert Morris College. The loss gives the team a 15-3-2 overall record.

In the first half of the game the Trolls took seven shots, six of which were on goal. Defensively they contained Robert Morris, who did not get a shot off. In spite of the shot discrepancy the score was still 0-0 at the end of the period.

The Trolls kept attacking in the second period, determined to get on the board. However it was the Eagles who scored first when they found an open net from a ball that got deflected away from the keeper.

Nine minutes later at the 61st minute the Trolls tied it up when Nicole Billin made a short pass up the right side to Alyssa Lee. Lee found the angle she needed and slipped it by the Eagles’ keeper.

Robert Morris did not waste any time taking control again as they caught the Trolls by surprise and scored within the next minute. From there they were able to tighten up the defense and prevent the Trolls from scoring again.

Overall Trinity had 13 shots for the game and Robert Morris had five.

The Trolls hope to receive a bid to the NAIA Region Tournament that begins on October 31.
