Men’s Basketball Stopped by IU-South Bend  (11/28/07)
The men’s basketball team could not get back into the win column with a game at Indiana University-South Bend. The Trolls fell behind in the first half and did not recover for the eventual 71-84 loss. The defeat brings the team’s record to 5-3.

The score was tight through most of the first period until IU-South Bend went on a 10-0 run. At that point the Trolls went from two point deficit at 12-14 to a 14-24 gap. That double digit difference held until half-time when the Trolls were down 27-37.

The scoring gap widened in the second half when IU-South Bend took a 17 point lead. In the next three minutes the Trolls fought their way back and pulled to within eight points. That comeback was short lived as the Titans quickly rebuilt a 17 point lead. Trinity could not recover from this time and were handed the loss.

The team shot 46% for the game and had the advantage on the boards with 41 rebounds. However they were hindered with 21 turnovers. Kurt Gruppen posted a double double with 18 points and 11 boards. Also scoring in double figures were Jonathan Huizinga with 14, Ross Stuursma with 13, and Will Bruinsma with 12.

The team will play next on Saturday, December 1, at home against Taylor University-Fort Wayne at 3:00 pm.
