Men’s Basketball Taken Down By Calvin  (12/15/07)
The final test at the end of exam week did not go so well for the Trolls in a game against Calvin College (MI). The team trailed throughout the first half and then let the game get away from them in the second period for the 47-80 defeat. The loss moves the Trolls to 6-6 overall.

Trinity scored the first basket of the game, but that was the only time they were leaders on the scoreboard. Calvin took over the lead and slowly increased their advantage to 12 points by the half, 38-26.

It did not get better for the Trolls in the second period as they were out-scored 12 to 4 in the first three minutes of the period. The slow start put them in a 20-point deficit that continued to increase as the half went on. The margin grew to as much as 37 before the final 33 point difference.

The team ended shooting only 34.5% for the game while Calvin hit 46.4% of their shots. They also struggle on the boards, collecting only 27 rebounds to the Knight’s 45. Kurt Gruppen was the only Troll in double figure scoring with 12 points. Will Bruinsma was one shy at nine points. Ebiowei Porbeni had six boards and Jonathan Huizinga grabbed five.

The Trolls will return to action on Monday, December 17, at home against Illinois Institute of Technology at 7:30 pm.
