Women’s Basketball Upsets No. 5 Davenport  (12/15/07)
The Trolls pulled off a 63-57 upset victory over Davenport University (MI) in the second day of the Trinity Christian College Classic. The team built a sizable first half lead and then handed NAIA No. 5 Davenport (10-2) just their second loss of the season. The Trolls improve their record to 6-8 overall.   
 
Having the hot hand from the three point range gave Trinity the edge they needed in the first half. They connected on seven of their 12 attempts (58.3%) to propel them to a 12 point, 37-25, half-time lead. Behind five treys they took a four point game at the nine minute mark to a 14-point spread with three minutes to play.
 
In the second period the Trolls continued to have the upper hand and midway through the period had a 21-point lead at 55-34. Davenport remained determined and increased the defensive pressure. In the final ten minutes of the game the Trolls only scored eight more points, while Davenport chipped away and got to within six.
 
The Trolls ended with a .500 three-point percentage (9 for 18). They were 41.5% overall and 90.9% from the line. Emily Thomassen led the scoring with 15 points while Sarah Lerner had 12 and Amanda Learned has 10. Lerner also had nine rebounds and five assists. Thomassen and Learned each grabbed eight boards.
 
In the first game of the day Bethel College (TN) defeated Hannibal-LaGrange College (MO), 66-61.
