Women’s Basketball Drops First Conference Game   (1/9/08)
The Trolls opened their conference schedule at Cardinal Stritch University (WI), the team they defeated last season to win the CCAC tournament championship. They did not fare as well this time and lost the game 55-84. The team is now 7-11 overall and 0-1 in the CCAC.

In their first few possessions of the game the Trolls turned the ball over, thus setting a tone for the night. Within six minutes of the opening tip-off Trinity was down by 10 points. Midway through the period that gap had spread to 20 points and was 29 by the half, 21-50.

The team held their own in the second period, but did not make up any ground. In the end the 29- point difference held at the final.

The team ended with 23 turnovers for the game. They shot 40.4% while allowing Cardinal Stritch 54.4% from the field. The Trolls took the advantage on the boards with 34 rebounds to Stritch’s 25. Emily Thomassen led the team with 16 points and five rebounds. Amanda Learned added 10 points and four boards.

The team will play next on Saturday, January 12, when they host Purdue University-Calumet in a conference game at 1:00 pm.
