Men’s Basketball Defeats Purdue-North Central   (1/19/08)
With a 76-64 win over Purdue University-North Central the Trolls remain undefeated in the first round of conference play. The victory also increases the team’s winning streak to five games and makes them 12-8 overall and 4-0 in the CCAC.
 
The Trolls took charge of the game in the first half behind 57.1% shooting and grabbed the top spot on the scoreboard. By the end of the period they had a seven-point advantage at 44-37.
 
The scoring and the shooting percentages slowed down in the second half, but Trinity maintained their lead. The Trolls dropped to 26.9% shooting and added only 32 more points. However behind their good defensive efforts they held Purdue-North Central to 28.1% and only 27 points.  
 
The team ended with a .426 field goal percentage. They were 86.2% (25/29) accurate from the free throw line, scoring nearly one-third of their points from that spot. Three players reached double figure scoring. Ross Stuursma led the team with 23 points, hitting 15 of 15 from the line. Will Bruinsma added 18 points and Ebiowei Porbeni had 13. The Trolls controlled the boards as Jonathan Huizinga had 11 and Porbeni had eight.
