Track and Field Begins Season   (2/9/08)
The Trinity women’s and men’s track and field teams opened their season of indoor competition at the Dick Pond Invitational hosted by Lewis University (IL). The teams finished with three individual top eight places and set three new school marks.
 
The women’s team had many fine performances in the running events, but the best finishes came in the field events. Katie Vander Ark took third in the high jump, clearing 4-11.75. With a throw of 35-04.00, Ashley Biesboer made the finals and took 8th in the shot put.
 
Three athletes were able to establish new school standards, competing in events that Trinity has not participated in before. Bobby Bennett ran the 55m hurdles in a time of 8.84 for the school record. In the weight throw, Tyler Kallemeyn achieved a mark of 39-04.5 and Ashley Biesboer threw 30-08.25 for school records.
 
On the men’s team Bolaji Adeoti led the way with an 8th place finish in the 800 meter with a time of 2:04.39.
 
The Trolls’ next competition is the Chicagoland Championships. The women’s meet is on Friday, February 15, at Lewis University and the men’s is on Saturday, February 16, at the University of Chicago.
