Women’s Basketball Loses at St. Francis  (2/12/08)
The Trolls could not find the win column in a non-conference game at the University of St. Francis (IL). After leading most of the first half, they faltered in the second half for a 65-82 loss. The team is now 9-18 overall.

Trinity took charge in the first half and grabbed the lead on the scoreboard. With 4:33 to play in the period they had an eight point advantage. Over the next minute and a half St. Francis went on a 10 to 2 run to tie the game at 31-31. For the remaining time the score was tied three times and then with 16 seconds left St. Francis hit a shot that gave them a 36-35 half-time lead.

The Trolls struggled to get things going in the second period and started to slip behind. Midway through the period St. Francis posted a 10 to 0 run which pushed the scoring gap to 20 points. Trinity did not recover from that deficit and ended with the 17-point loss.

Trinity controlled the boards, grabbing 53 rebounds to St. Francis’ 34. However they only shot 36.1% and turnover the ball over numerous times. Amanda Learned posted a double double for the evening with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Brittany Kolenbrander added 17 points and nine rebounds while Erin Zielke had 12 points and six boards.

The Trolls next game in on Saturday, February 16, at Robert Morris College at 6:00 pm.
