Women’s Basketball Battles with Robert Morris  (2/16/08)
The women’s basketball team fought hard in a cross-divisional CCAC game at Robert Morris College (16-10), but come up short with a 54-62 loss. The Trolls are now 9-19 for the season.
 
The team stayed close with Eagles, but fought from behind throughout the entire 40 minutes. In the first half they were within five points of Robert Morris until the final two minutes when the lead increased to six points. It was that six point difference that separated the teams at the half, 22-28.
 
Midway through the second period the Trolls slipped to a 10-point deficit. They closed that gap with an 8-0 run to pull to within two points. With four minutes left they were only trailing by one. Robert Morris put together an 8-0 run of their own to make the difference nine points with less than two minutes to play. At the one minute mark the Trolls narrowed the lead to four on a three-pointer by Sarah Lerner. However Robert Morris did what they needed to do at the line in the remaining time to keep the Trolls from getting any closer.

 The team ended shooting 46.7% for the game and held Robert Morris to 35.3%. However they took 20 less shots than their opponent. Brittany Kolenbrander led the scoring with 20 points. Emily Thomassen was also in double figures with 15. Amanda Learned had 12 rebounds to go with eight points. Sarah Lerner ended the game with eight points and four assists.

 
The Trolls will play next at home on February 20 against Judson University at 5:30 pm.
