Track and Field at NCCAA Championships (2/23/08)
Trinity had seven women and six men athletes represent them at the NCCAA Indoor Championships held at Cedarville University, Ohio. The women had two individual place finishers to give them an 11th place finish while the men took 12th place on a team relay effort.
 
Katie Vander Ark led the women’s team with a second place finish in the high jump. With her personal best jump of 5-03 she set a school record and became the school’s first ever indoor track NCCAA All-American and NAIA national championship meet qualifier.
 
The other point winner was Danielle Swenson, who took eighth in the triple jump at 28-06.5.
 
Ashley Biesboer had a good day in the weight throw, setting a school record of 37-11.5. The toss bested her previous record by over three feet. Jessica Jager also set a school mark with a 20:57.36 time in the 5000 meter.
 
On the men’s team the distance relay team of Bolaji Adeoti, Tony Patrick, Joey Lerner, and Andy Jellema earned points for the team with a sixth place finish. Their time of 10:50.69 marks a Trinity school record.
 
The next meet for the teams will be on March 7 at Carthage College (WI).
