Kurt Gruppen Hits Career Milestone   (2/28/08)
Kurt Gruppen reached the career milestone of 1, 000 career points against Cardinal Stritch University in a semifinal game of the conference tournament on February 28. Gruppen accomplished this feat in just three years of play and currently ranks 24^th in Trinity’s all-time career scoring list.
 
Gruppen, a senior forward, entered the semifinal game just four points shy of 1,000 points. He was held to just two points in the first half, but at 17:50 in the second period he hit a jumper in the lane to put him at the milestone. He went on to score only one more point for the contest to bring his career total to 1,001 points.
 
Gruppen, who leads his team in scoring with 19.2 points per game, has a total of 594 points for the season. Over the past two seasons he scored a total of 407 points, 366 in 2006-07 and 41 in 2005-06. He has scored in double figures in every, but two games all season and has been the team’s top scorer in 19 of the 31 contests.
 
Gruppen was recently named first team all-conference, his second time receiving that honor.
