Hoekstra to run at Trinity Christian College  (3/13/08)
Jodi Hoekstra, a senior at Chicago Christian High School, has signed a letter of intent to compete in cross country and track and field at Trinity Christian College. Hoekstra, who has been a standout middle distance runner throughout her high school career, will enroll at Trinity in the fall of 2008.

“We are thrilled that Jodi has chosen Trinity as the place to continue her academic and athletic pursuits,” said Jeff Raymond, Athletics Director and Head Track and Field Coach at Trinity. “She has been very successful at the high school level, and we are confident that she can continue that success at Trinity.”

Last spring Hoekstra competed in three events at the Illinois State Track and Field Championships, earning top-eight finishes in each. She posted a personal best and school-record time of 5:11.28 to place sixth in the mile run, and established another personal record of 2:19.96 to finish eighth in the 800 meter. In addition, she anchored the Chicago Christian 3200 meter relay team to a seventh-place finish in a school-record time of 9:50.05.

“Jodi Hoekstra is an outstanding runner who is willing to put in the work necessary to achieve high level results,” said Jim Kwasteniet, Head Girl’s Track and Field Coach at Chicago Christian. “Jodi has been a vital part of the Chicago Christian track program for four years and now Trinity will benefit from her talents as well. Congratulations to Jodi and Trinity.”

In addition to her running success, Hoekstra competed on the girl’s tennis team and was part of a state-qualifying doubles team last fall. She has also been involved with various dramatic productions at Chicago Christian.

Jodi is the daughter of Dale and Joni Hoekstra of Homer Glen, Illinois.
