Track and Field Hosts Troll Early Season Relays (3/26/08)       
Both the women’s and men’s track and field teams captured second place in their only home meet of the season. The Troll Early Season Relays consisted of five teams competing in a total 28 track and field events.
 
Katie VanderArk helped out the women’s team with three first places. Individually she won the high jump (5-0) and the long jump (15-06.5) and also ran a leg of the winning 4 x 200m relay (1:56.1). The other members of the relay were Danielle Swenson, Christine Iwema, and Melissa Voss. VanderArk also took third in the triple jump with a distance of 29-11.00.
 
Emily Buter also earned three first place finishes. She captured the top spot in the 400 meter at 1:03.0 and then ran in the 4 x 100m relay (53.5) and the 4 x 400m relay (4:15.1). Iwema and Voss joined her in both of those relays as did Alessandra Ledbetter in the 4 x 100 and Erin Zielke in the 4 x 400.
 
Erin Zielke also performed very well in the 1500 meter, capturing first place with a time of 5:01.9. She achieved NCCAA national qualifying standards with that performance.
 
In the throwing events Ashley Biesboer had a good meet. She took first in the javelin (96-03.00) and third in the shot put and discus.
 
Tyler Kallemeyn led the way in field events for the men. He threw 167-10.0 in the javelin, taking first place and breaking his own school record by six inches. He also improved his shot put and discus distances from the previous outdoor meet.
 
On the track Bolaji Adeoti had three first place finishes. Individually he won the 400 meter (53.04) and then ran the opening leg of the 4 x 800m relay and the final leg of the 4 x 400m relay. Joining him in the 3200m relay was David Hoekstra, Andy Jellema, and Joey Lerner and in the 1600m relay was Scott Hankes, Tony Patrick, and Josh Seegert.
 
The Trolls will compete again on Saturday, March 29, at Goshen College (IN).
