Softball Struggles on the Diamond  (4/3/08)
Since returning from their spring break trip the Trolls have yet to find a win. In less than a week’s time they dropped four games to Olivet Nazarene University, the top conference team, plus a twin-bill to Purdue University-North Central. Trinity is now 1-11 for the season and 0-4 in the conference.

In non-conference action on March 29 the Trolls suffered two mercy rule losses to Olivet Nazarene. Both games ended after five innings with scores of 1-13 and 2-10. The Trolls’ only run was scored in the second inning, giving them a momentary lead. The Tigers took over from there, scoring five in the second, six in the third, and two in the fourth.

In the second game the Trolls were never ahead. Olivet was able to end the game in the fifth inning when they put three runs on the board with only one out to make it 10-2.

Trinity got into conference action April 2 with a double-header against Purdue-North Central. In the first game Trinity scored first with two runs in the third inning. By the end of the sixth the teams were tied at 3-3. Purdue-North Central was able to produce two more runs in the seventh inning. The Trolls did not match that output, thus losing the game 3-5.

In game two the Trolls gave up five runs in the first inning to start in a hole. They gained two back in their first at bat and then were shut-out until the seventh inning. The Panthers made it 7-2 after six innings, and the Trolls rallied with two runs in the seventh, but came up short for the 4-7 loss.

CCAC action continued on April 3 as the Trolls returned to Olivet Nazarene. The first game resulted in a 0-8 shut-out after five innings. Game two showed the game five-inning shut-out result, this time was a 0-13 final.  Olivet scored in each of the first four innings to create the win.

The Trolls continue action on April 5 at the Judson Invitational. Trinity will open with a conference double-header against Judson at 10 am. These games are a make-up from the rain out on March 25. They will then take on Trinity International University in a single non-conference game at 3:30 pm.
