Defeats Illinois Institute of Technology (4/22/08)
The Trolls added one more win to
their conference record with a 9-1 victory over Illinois Institute of
Technology. The team is now 11-17 overall and 6-10 in the conference.
The Trolls took charge from the
beginning as a home run by Joe Musolino in the first inning scored two runs. They opened
the game up in the third inning with three more hits that scored five runs to
make it 7-0. Adam Hoornaert doubled for two of those RBIs and Nick Scholten singled for two more.
IIT prevented the shut-out as
they produced three hits in the fourth inning to score a run. The Trolls added
one more run in the seventh inning on a double by Matt Kamp and then scored their final run in the eighth
inning with another RBI by Scholten.
Trinity had a total of eight hits
for the game with Joe Chimenti and Nick Scholten each getting two. Ryan Wories pitched the entire game for the win.
The Trolls will host Robert
Morris College in a double-header on Wednesday, April 23, at 1:00 pm.
