Baseball Gains Conference Victories   (4/23/08)
The Trolls improve to 8-10 in the conference standings with two victories over Robert Morris College. Trinity shut the Eagles out, 8-0, in the first game, and then got a six-inning 16-6 mercy rule win in game two. The team is now 13-17 overall.
 
Most of the scoring in the first game came in the later innings. The Trolls scored one run in the second inning and one run in the fourth inning for a 2-0 lead. Then in the fifth inning they had four hits to score two more times.
 
The Trolls doubled their score in the sixth inning. Rich Tameling exploded for a two-run homer. Matt Kamp immediately followed with a double and then out later was brought home with a double by Rob Emmons. After a fly out to center field, Mark Igyarto single to bring Emmons across the plate.
 
The Trolls had 14 hits for the game and held Robert Morris to six. Kamp and Emmons were both three for four at the plate. Jeff Nykerk pitched the complete game shut-out for his 5th win of the season.
 
Trinity did not wait to score in the second game as they got eight runs in the first two innings. By the end of four the score was 10-2.
 
There was a lot of scoring in the fifth inning as both teams added four runs. Joe Musolino doubled to score two of those and Igyarto singled for two more.
 
The Trolls held Robert Morris to three up and three down in the sixth inning. With two walks and another double by Musolino, the Trolls loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning. Igyarto came up big again with a double that scored the two runs needed to end the game on the mercy rule.
 
The team had a total of 15 hits for the game. Igyarto had four hits and five RBIs, Musolino had three hits and 4 RBIs and Kamp had three hits. Tony Perri pitched five innings for the win.

The Trolls will wrap up their regular season on Saturday, April 26, in a double-header at Cardinal Stritch University at noon.
