Track and Field Storms Concordia Meet   (4/25/08)
Battling the competition and stormy weather, the track and field teams made the most of their performances at the Cougar Invitational at Concordia University. Even with a few events not completed because of threatening weather, the Trinity’s women’s team capture first place and the men took fourth.
 
There were many positive performances that contributed to the women taking the team title. Erin Zielke captured first place in the 800 meter (2:20.11) and the 1500 meter (4:45.08) with school record times. She also became a NAIA qualifier with her performance in the 1500 meter.
 
Ashley Biesboer also improved on her own school record in the javelin with a throw of 105-00 to earn second place. Melissa Voss ran a personal best in the 400 meter (1:00.50) for a first place finish. Also grabbing a top finish was Katie Vander Ark in the high jump with a height of 5-00.
 
Several of the members of the men’s teams posted personal bests. Adeoti Bolaji set a school record (51.14) in the 400 meter for a first place finish. He also took third in the 200 meter (24.22). Ryker Van Drunen bested his own discus throw to set the new school mark at 138-06 and take third place. Bobby Bennett also set two new school records in the hurdle events with times of 17.83 in the 110m high hurdles and 1:02.91 in the 400m hurdles.
 
Several members of the team will compete in the NCCAA National Championships on May 2-3 at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana.
