Lynne DeYoung Signs with Track and Field  (5/1/08)
Lynne DeYoung, a three-sport star at Illiana Christian High School, has signed a letter of intent to attend Trinity Christian College and participate in track and field.

DeYoung competes in several events for the Illiana track and field team, including the long jump, hurdles and relays. She advanced to the Illinois Class AA State Championships in 2007 in the 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles and 4 x 400 meter relay. So far in 2008 DeYoung captured individual titles in the long jump and 300 hurdles at the prestigious Houseward Invitational in Michigan, and won three individual events and was named the Most Valuable Performer at the Chicago Christian Invitational. Her current top performances include 15.64 seconds in the 100 hurdles, 47.62 seconds in the 300 hurdles, and a mark of 16’6 ½ in the long jump.

“We are extremely pleased that Lynne has decided join our program,” said Jeff Raymond, athletic director and track and field coach at Trinity. “She is a great student and a high quality athlete who can help us in a variety of events.  She is hoping to do the heptathlon at the college level, which I think will be a perfect fit for her abilities.”

In addition to her success on the track for Illiana, DeYoung was a key member of the cross country team which advanced to the state meet last fall, and was also a second-team all-area selection in basketball. She also excels in the classroom, where she is one of the top students in her class.

Lynne is the daughter of Jay and Linda DeYoung of Schererville, Indiana.
