Baseball Loses Two in Conference Tournament (5/1/08)
The Trolls could not extend their season as they were eliminated from the conference tournament with two losses. The team lost the first game, 5-8, to Purdue University-North Central and then dropped a 1-3 decision to Olivet Nazarene University. Trinity ended the season with a 14-20 overall record.

In the first game of the double-elimination tournament the Trolls took on the host school and top seed of Purdue-North Central. The team rallied around a four-run eighth inning, but it was too little too late.

Trailing 4-1 after five innings, the Trolls first got on the board in the sixth inning with three hits, including a RBI single by Joe Musolino. Purdue took charge again in the seventh inning when they added four runs to make it 8-1.

Trinity saved their power hitting for the eighth inning when they blasted the long ball. Joe Chimenti and Mark Igyarto started off the inning with back-to-back triples. That was followed by an out-of-the-part home run by Matt Kamp. One out later Rob Emmons sent another ball over the fence to make the score 8-5. Unfortunately the scoring ended there as the Trolls took the loss.

The second game of the day was played against Olivet Nazarene University. The Trolls made the Tigers work for their runs as they scored one run in the third, fourth, and seventh innings. Trinity had their opportunity to get on the board, but left bases loaded in both the fourth and fifth innings.

With one out in the ninth inning, Nick Scholten singled to get on base. Rich Tameling then got to first and Ryan Tevepaugh took a walk to load the bags. A wild pitch allowed Scholten to cross the plate and the runners to advance to scoring positions. Despite their efforts to rally and bring those runners in, the Trolls logged two more outs, thus ending the game.
