BASEBALL
LOSES TWO CONFERENCE GAMES TO JUDSON (3/23/04)
The baseball
team hosted Judson College in a conference double header. The games were
close, but the end result was not what the Trolls had hoped for as they
lost both contest. The first game was a 3-4 loss in the 7th inning and
the second game was a 1-3 loss. The team is now 2-4 for the season and
0-4 in the conference.
In the first
game a two out single by Luke Post in the first inning drove in
the first run of the game. With Grant Sikkema on the mound the Trolls
held Judson without a hit or a run in the first 4 innings. That changed
in the 5th inning as Judson had 4 hits and scored 5 runs. The Trolls answered
with one run on back-to-back doubles by Adam McIntyre and Post
in the bottom of the inning. Another run for the Trolls in the 6th
inning tied the game at 3-3. Judson then put together 3 singles in a row
to take a 7th inning 4-3 led. The Trolls got a runner on base in the bottom
of the inning, but hit into a double play to end the game.
The Trolls had
their opportunities in game two as they had 9 hits and runners on base
in the majority of the innings. A couple of fielding errors allowed Judson
to get going in the 2nd inning and score 2 runs. The Trolls only run of
the game came in the 3rd inning on a solo homer by Post. Judson
scored one more run in the 4th inning. The Trolls could not close the gap
and took the 1-3 loss.
