BASEBALL
CANNOT FIND WIN THIS WEEK (4/10/04)
The baseball
team went 0-6 for the week as they lost 2 more games on Saturday. The Trolls
were defeated in a conference double header by Robert Morris College (IL).
The 0-5 and 2-9 losses make 8 losses in a row for the Trolls, who are now
4-15 for the season and 0-7 in the conference.
The Trolls could
not get the bats going in the first game as they only had 2 hits for the
game. Robert Morris only had 5 hits in the game, but they were good enough
for 5 runs. The Eagles scored one run in the 1st, one in the 3rd, one in
the 5th, and two in the 7th. Grant Sikkema was the pitching
for the entire 7 innings.
The Trolls had
one bad inning in the second game that allowed Robert Morris to take the
win. In fact until that 5th inning the Trolls were right in the game and
tied 2-2. However five errors in that inning combined with 3 hits by Robert
Morris put the Trolls behind 8-2. Robert Morris added one more run in the
6th inning to go ahead 9-2. The Trolls got the bases loaded in the bottom
of the 7th inning, but could not capitalize on that situation. Dan Herder
is the pitcher of record for the game.
The team will
play next on Monday, April 12, at home against the University of St. Francis
at 3:30 pm.
