BASEBALL POUNDED BY ST. FRANCIS   (4/12/04)

The baseball team opened the week with hopes of ending their 8-game losing streak. The Trolls, facing the University of St. Francis (IL), a team they lost to by just one run last week, believed they could get the job done. However, what was close match-up last time turned into a wide margin this time as the Trolls lost the game 17-0. The team is now 4-16 for the season and 0-8 in the conference.

It just was not to be for the Trolls as they made some mental errors that St. Francis capitalized on. It was errors that cost them 2 runs in the 1st and 5 runs in the 3rd inning. St. Francis added eight hits in the 4th inning to bring in 7 more runs to the game for a 14-0 lead after that inning. The Trolls gave up 3 more runs in the 5th. Meanwhile the offensive end of the game was quiet for the Trolls as they only had 4 hits for the game and never really threatened to score. The game ended after 7 innings on the mercy rule.

The team will play again on Thursday, April 15, as they host IIT in a conference game at 3:00 pm.
