BASEBALL
LOSES ANOTHER CONFERENCE GAME (4/15/04)
The Trolls tried
to get their first conference win against Illinois Institute of Technology,
but once again fell short. The final of the game was 7-4 as they
team is now 0-9 in the CCAC and 4-17 overall.
During the first
3 innings of the game both teams were scoreless. IIT opened things up in
the 4th inning as they put 2 runs across the plate. Behind a homerun in
the 6th inning IIT stretched the gap to 4-0. A big hit in the 6th inning
gave the opponent one more run. The Trolls came alive in the 7th inning
to make the game interesting. Hits by Luke Post and Darren DeBoer
set up Aaron Werkman for a RBI with a single. Mike Mercier
then loaded the bases with a walk. Dan Herder cranked out a double
to bring all 3 of those runners in and to tighten the game at 5-4. Unfortunately
IIT was able to respond with 2 more runs in the 8th. The Trolls did not
rally back and the game ended with the 7-4 score.
The team will
play next on Saturday at Cardinal Stritch University (WI) in a double header
starting at noon.
