SOFTBALL
TAKES TWO AGAINST CALUMET COLLEGE (4/19/04)
The women's softball
team picked up two more conference wins as they defeated Calumet College
of St. Joseph (IN) in double header action. The Trolls won in fashion as
the game scores were 8-0 and 9-1. The team is now 8-4 in the conference
(13-19-1 overall) with just 4 CCAC games left.
The Trolls had
8 hits in the first game with Erica Bruner going 3 for 3.
The hits were spread out, earning the Trolls 2 runs in the 2nd inning,
2 runs in the 3rd inning, and 4 runs in the 4th inning. Amanda Wilkins
came up with a bases loaded triple in that 4th inning. Because the Trolls
were ahead by 8 runs after 5 innings the game ended on the mercy rule.
The team continued
their hitting ways in the second game as they cranked out 12 more hits.
Jill Olson was 3 for 4 and Stephanie Koedyker and Courtney
Krasoczka were both 2 for 4. The Trolls had a 5-0 lead after 2 innings
and that held until the 6th inning when Calumet got on the board with a
run. The Trolls then continued to get runners on base in the 7th inning
and scored 4 more runs.
The team will
play on Tuesday at home against Saint Xavier University in a 3:00 pm double
header.
