SOFTBALL
LOSES TWO TO NORTH CENTRAL COLLEGE (4/26/04)
In non-conference
play the softball team finds North Central College to hard to overcome.
The Trolls lost both of the games, 0-5, 1-4. The Trolls had 10 hits for
the day, but could not get the runners across the plate. With the losses
they are now 14-27-1 for the season.
The first game
produced 7 hits, coming from 6 different players, and situations with runners
in scoring positions. The Trolls did not capitalize on those opportunities
and thus were shut out for the game. North Central used their 7 hits, along
with some TCC fielding errors, to score once in the 2nd, twice in the 3rd,
and twice in the 6th.
In the second
game the Trolls were not as prolific with the bats as they only had 3 hits.
Trailing 4-0 the Trolls did get on the board in the 6th inning. Amanda
Wilkins and Courtney Krasoczka each singled to get on base.
Jill
Olson's sacrifice advanced them to scoring position. A ground ball
to the short stop by Michelle Cooke was enough for a RBI as Wilkins
crossed the plate.
The team is next
in action on Wednesday at home against Elmhurst College in a double header
at 3:00 pm.
