BASEBALL
SPLITS WITH TRINTY INTERNATIONAL (4/26/04)
The baseball
let one get away and grabbed one game against Trinity International in
a conference double header. This match-up actually started last week, but
play was suspended because of rain. With the 1-1 results the Trolls are
now 5-12 in the CCAC and 9-20 overall in their final week of conference
play.
The first game
picked up from where it left off last Tuesday in the bottom of the second
inning with the Trolls up 3-0. Unfortunately for the Trolls did not build
on that lead. The 6th inning proved to be the downfall of the game as the
team as they gave up 8 runs in that inning. The pitching just wasn't there
for the Trolls and the bats were fairly silent.
In the second
game The Trolls were first to score again as they got one run in the 1st
inning. Each team also picked up one run in the 2nd inning. The Trolls
started their 3rd inning at bat with hits by Andrew Van Byssum and
Luke Post. They took advantage of errors and passed balls to score
those two runners. They team made the gap 5-1 after 4 inning. TIU got two
runs in the 5th and one run in the 6th to make it close, however the Trolls
held on for the 5-4 win.
The team will
play next on Tuesday at IIT in a conference game at 3:00 pm.
