SOFTBALL ENDS SEASON IN CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT   (5/5/04)

The softball season came to a close in the conference tournament as the Trolls lost their two contests in that post-season event. The Trolls entered the double elimination tournament as the #5 seed. They lost, 2-1, in their first game to #4 Robert Morris College and then lost to #6 Trinity International University, 7-1, in their second game. The Trolls final season record is 16-29-1.

The Robert Morris game was an exciting game that was a defensive battle. Each team only had 3 hits for the game. Robert Morris was the first to score as they grabbed a run in the 2nd inning. The Trolls tied the game in the 5th inning. Gail Landini, Erica Bruner, and Angie Miller each singled to start the inning. The Trolls took advantage of a fielding error to score. In the next inning Robert Morris had a couple of good hits that drove in one run. That run was enough as the game ended 2-1.

The Trinity International game did not start out on the right foot for the Trolls. After giving up one run in the top of the first inning the Trolls tied the game in their at bat. However they allowed 4 runs in the 2nd inning, 1 run in the 3rd, and 1run in the 4th to fall behind, 1-7. The team could not make up the difference and thus bowed out of the conference tournament with the loss.

Congratulations to Stephanie Koedyker on being named to the All-Conference Team. Teammates Michelle Wories and Michelle Cooke received Honorable Mention recognition.
