By means of the semester program, students will:
150 History, Politics, and Culture of Ecuador: This course provides an overview of the history, politics, and culture of Ecuador, along with the relationship between various factors. It includes guest speakers from local organizations and visits to community groups, along with lecture and readings. (3 hrs)
300/400 Field Experience in Ecuador: Field experience credit is granted to students who participate in the Semester in Ecuador program. Students will work with a local organization (e.g., business, church, artistic, non-profit group) and participate in a two-week mission trip. Since the field experience course may or may not meet the requirements of the student’s major, each student should check with his/her adviser when considering the program. (6 hrs)
Spanish Language: Students take a Spanish language course from a local Spanish language institute. Level of course depends on Spanish proficiency. A minimum of one year in Spanish is strongly recommended.
Other courses may be offered, which will vary by semester.
