piano keysMUSIC DEPARTMENT STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES

Throughout the year assessment data is gathered through student and alumni surveys, capstone projects, field education, subject area tests, and course-embedded assessments to determine how well the program is meeting its student learning outcomes. The following outcomes show areas where our students have excelled in their studies of music, music education, and church music.

  • Articulate a Christian worldview as it applies to music
          and the arts
  • Analyze and appraise the role of music and its
impact on society within a variety of cultures and historical periods
  • Demonstrate and apply pedagogical knowledge and skills appropriate
          to the teaching of music
  • Appraise and apply the knowledge and skills appropriate to leadership
          in church music
